Rules

Will the Physical Transfer Rights (PTRs) be lost when they are not nominated before 14.00 hrs in the Dutch system?

Yes, nominations on TenneT’s side must be made before 14.00 hrs, including the energy to be transferred across the NorNed HVDC link. After that time, the ‘Use it or lose it’ principle applies. The capacity that is not used will not be used in the beginning. In the future it will be possible to exchange ancillary services in addition to regular MW-trading. First concern is now to have the link in operation for regular MW-trading.

Will PRPs and BRPs be registered automatically for participation in the NorNed Auction?

No, PRPs and BRPs must register to participate. Please refer to the Rules and Regulations on the website www.NorNed-auction.org.

Are PRPs or BRPs allowed to transfer their responsibility to a third-party?

The participant must be either a PRP in the Dutch system or a BRP in the Norwegian system. A participant may appoint another PRP/BRB to submit the nomination ‘at the other end’. This must be done using the UCN form.

Who checks the solvency of (prospective) participants?

The NorNed Auction operator, i.e. a staff member of TenneT or Statnett.

Is the designated bank account the same as the account for TenneT’s PRP or TSO Auction BV?

No, the designated bank account is an account devoted exclusively to financial settlements for capacity obtained on the NorNed HVDC link.

Are bid messages sent in by e-mail acknowledged?

Yes all bids will be acknowledged. If the bid message is not acknowledged, it is not considered to have been sent.
E-mail messages that have been sent in will be acknowledged by means of an e-mail message with an EDI file attached.

How can a participant obtain a designated account?

TenneT will open such an account when the participant registers to join NorNed Auction.
