NorNed cable back in operation

On Thursday, July 30 2008, the Norned-cable will be back in operation. The capacity of the cable (700 MW) will aivailable again. Sunday morning July 27 around 02.00 AM, the NorNed cable was taken out of operation because of a failure. Since the NorNed cable came into service on May 6, have more than lived up to the expectations. Low electricity prices in southern Norway combined with high electricity prices in the Netherlands have ensured that the current flows go from Norway to the Netherlands most of the time. So far, over 1 Terawatt-hour (1 million megawatt-hours) of Norwegian hydro-energy has been imported into the Netherlands.
