NorNed – NorNed auction expected to start Monday May 5

Testing of the NorNed cable connection between Norway and the Netherlands made good progress. First NorNed auction is planned on Monday May 5 2008.
Over the last weeks the testing of NorNed progressed well. The test results have contributed to a positive assessment on the reliability of the NorNed HVDC link. A planned 6 day high power test run till May 5 should prove NorNeds stability and robustness before offering NorNed to the market.
Conditional to positive outcome of remainder of tests the first NorNed auction is planned to take place on Monday May 5 2008 for the trading of electricity on Tuesday May 6 2008.
After completion of NorNed testing, a trial period starts for 2 months. In this period the NorNed HVDC link will be closely monitored and appraised which might lead to requirement for additional testing and fine tuning. In case such tests are needed TenneT and Statnett will announce well in advance.
